Annual Talent Acquisition Survey

Understanding the Talent Acquisition Landscape

Talent acquisition teams across the design and construction sector are operating in an increasingly complex environment. Ongoing skill shortages, heightened delivery expectations, and constrained internal resources continue to redefine how TA functions operate and add value. Despite this, there is limited consolidated insight into how talent teams are adapting and where the biggest opportunities for progress sit.

To address this gap, Arcavia Consulting has launched a dedicated Talent Acquisition Survey, which you can access here:
State of Talent Acquisition for Design & Construction Companies – Fill out form

The Aim of the Survey

The survey is designed to provide an overview of the current talent acquisition landscape within the built environment. By capturing insight from in-house TA professionals and talent leaders, we aim to understand how teams are structured today, where pressure points exist, and how organisations are responding to ongoing hiring challenges.

A key objective is to identify emerging trends impacting TA teams. This includes shifts in operating models, changing expectations from stakeholders, the growing influence of technology and data, and how talent functions are evolving from delivery focused to strategically aligned partners.

The survey will also generate up to date salary data for talent professionals across the market. As competition for experienced TA capability continues to increase, transparent and relevant compensation insight is critical for both individuals and organisations planning future talent strategies.

Why Participate

The findings will help shape a clearer, data led view of talent acquisition in design and construction. Survey insights will be shared through future Arcavia Consulting content to support informed decision making across the sector.

If you work in talent acquisition within the built environment, we welcome your perspective and participation.

A Modern Talent Partner for Design and Construction

By George Dobbins, Managing Partner

After more than a decade working across executive search and talent delivery in the built environment, launching Arcavia Consulting represents an important next chapter for me professionally.

Throughout my career, I have worked with organisations across design, construction, infrastructure, and real estate, supporting everything from senior leadership hiring to complex growth and project delivery programmes. Over time, it became clear that while the market has evolved rapidly, recruitment models have largely stayed the same. Rising skill shortages, tighter delivery timelines, and increasing commercial pressure demand a different approach.

Arcavia Consulting was founded to meet that need.

Why Arcavia Exists

Arcavia has been built to deliver outcomes, not transactions. Traditional recruitment models often operate at arm’s length from the businesses they serve, creating inefficiency, misalignment, and unnecessary cost. Our model is different. We work directly alongside leadership and internal Talent teams to deliver strategic hiring, project recruitment, and embedded solutions that are aligned to business goals and project realities.

The firm is built exclusively around thedesign and construction market. This sector requires deep understanding of technical capability, project structures, and workforce dynamics that generic recruitment approaches struggle to replicate. By focusing solely on this market, Arcavia is able to deliver relevant, practical solutions in an environment defined by scarcity and competition.

Arcavia is also an AI native consultancy, designed to explore and apply emerging technology and data in a way that supports better hiring decisions. This blog will share insight on talent trends, skill challenges, and the evolving tools shaping recruitment in the built environment, with a focus on practical value rather than hype.

A Personal Note

Outside of work, I live in Yorkshire with my wife and our two children. Sport has always played a big part in my life, from playing rugby at university to competing in county tennis earlier on. Those experiences shaped how I think about teamwork, discipline, and performance, principles that continue to influence how I build teams, partner with clients, and lead Arcavia Consulting. I'm also a big wine and food fan which is lucky as my wife writes a food blog in her spare time and has a big love for cooking.

Looking Ahead

Arcavia Consulting has been built with intent. To deliver a modern recruiting model that works for organisations operating in a complex, skills constrained market. This blog will share insight drawn from real hiring programmes, market data, and ongoing conversations across the sector.

I look forward to contributing to a more informed and forward looking discussion about talent in design and construction.

Why Arcavia Consulting Exists

Building a Modern Talent Partner for Design and Construction

The design and construction sector is undergoing a period of sustained pressure. Demand continues to outpace supply for critical skills, project timelines are tightening, and hiring decisions now carry greater commercial risk than ever before. At the same time, traditional recruitment models remain largely unchanged. Many businesses are still forced to choose between high cost contingent recruitment or under resourced internal teams struggling to scale.

Arcavia Consulting was founded to address this gap. Not as another recruitment firm, but as a modern talent consultancy built to deliver real hiring outcomes in a complex and skills constrained market.

This blog marks the beginning of our market insight series and an opportunity to explain why Arcavia exists, who it is built for, and how we think about the future of hiring in design and construction.

Building a Modern Recruiting Firm That Delivers for Organisations

At its core, Arcavia Consulting was created to solve a delivery problem.

Too often, recruitment success is measured by transactions rather than results. Speed is prioritised over sustainability, and short term placements are valued more highly than long term capability. For organisations operating in design and construction, this approach creates risk. Project delays, cost overruns, and capability gaps are frequently traced back to hiring decisions made under pressure.

Arcavia has been designed around a different model. One that is outcomes driven, embedded, and closely aligned to client goals. Rather than operating at arm’s length, we work directly alongside leadership and Talent teams to deliver hiring programmes that support business strategy, project delivery, and future growth.

By integrating with internal teams rather than competing with them, Arcavia reduces friction, increases accountability, and significantly lowers cost. The focus is not on filling roles quickly, but on building the right capability at the right time.

Built Specifically for the Design and Construction Market

Design and construction is not a sector that can be served effectively through generic recruitment models. It is fragmented, highly specialised, and subject to cyclical pressures that require deep market understanding.

Arcavia Consulting is built exclusively around this market. Our work spans design consultancies, contractors, developers, and specialist engineering businesses. This focus allows us to understand not just job titles, but project structures, delivery models, skill adjacencies, and the changing nature of capability demand.

Whether supporting long term strategic growth or short term project mobilisation, our approach reflects the realities of the sector. Scarcity of experience. Competition for talent. The importance of cultural and commercial alignment. And the growing need for flexible, scalable hiring solutions as project demands fluctuate.

This sector focus is not an afterthought. It is the foundation on which Arcavia operates.

Sharing Insight on Emerging Technology and Talent Trends

The talent market for design and construction is changing rapidly. Advances in technology, shifting candidate expectations, regulatory change, and demographic trends are all reshaping how organisations need to think about hiring and workforce planning.

Arcavia Consulting exists not only to deliver talent solutions, but to contribute insight to the market. We believe talent firms and employers alike must adapt to new tools, new data, and new ways of working if they are to remain competitive.

This blog will explore themes such as the practical application of AI in recruiting, evolving skill requirements across design and construction disciplines, the future of embedded talent models, and the changing relationship between internal teams and external partners.

The aim is not to promote technology for its own sake, but to examine how emerging tools and trends can deliver measurable value in a sector under increasing pressure.

Looking Ahead

Arcavia Consulting has been created to support organisations navigating one of the most challenging talent landscapes in recent memory. A modern recruiting firm built for real delivery, grounded in the design and construction market, and focused on the future of talent acquisition.

This blog will share insight drawn from live hiring programmes, market data, and ongoing conversations across the sector. We look forward to contributing to a more practical and forward thinking dialogue around talent in the built environment.
